Gailarde is a family business to the core, we’re passionate about objectives including taking extra measures to minimise environmental externalities. We are proud to say we not only meet, but aim to exceed any relevant legislation, and if legislation does not exist in a particular area, we make sure that we carry out best practices anyway. We are committed to ensuring that everything we do in business is carried out as ethically as possible by following the below policies.
We love to “do our bit’” for charities close to our hearts. We work closely with The Care Necessities, which provides a practical care package for Children and their families who have been admitted into Great Ormond Street Hospital for urgent cancer treatment.
In addition to this, we donate thousands annually to charities such as Great Ormand Street Hospital, Blind and Disabled Charities, Cancer Research, Hallmark Care Homes, British Heart Foundation & Give.Help.Share to name a few. We donate crucial starter kits such as bedding and other staples to schemes who support estranged students wanting to attend University. We also support a number of charities by sponsoring events by way of donations, sponsorships & prize giveaways to encourage & maximise donations.
We actively look out for our employees’ mental health, we distribute helplines throughout the business and employ a strict “open door” policy. We’re an Equal Opportunities Employer & employ staff from diverse backgrounds including race, sex, religion, belief, gender, sexual orientation & disability status.
We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and Gailarde is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business dealings and relationships. It is important to us to have a business that adheres to our family & community beliefs. Absolutely everyone that works with us is treated as part of the team and we are 100% committed to the standard of the working environment as well as ensuring good living conditions are adhered to. Gailarde are in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
All of us depend heavily on the benefits from the environment and nature which influence every single aspect of our existence. Our forests, rivers, oceans, soils and animals are in desperate need of protection, however much of what comes from the environment, along with its chemical, biological & physical components are often taken for granted. We’re making waves in the steps to providing a more sustainable future. As a family business, we hope that our grandchildren and their children will take over the running of the company. As with many others, we are on a journey. We are proud of the achievements we have made, however Gailarde have taken the opportunity to set ambitious targets for 2030.
Gailarde have worked incredibly hard to reduce our usage of single use plastic by 80% since 2019 alone. Our products are packaged with sustainability at the forefront of every decision, this will not only help reduce emissions of gases into our atmosphere, but it also means we won’t keep adding unnecessary rubbish to landfill.
In addition to our packaging and environmental efforts, We’ve also introduced Eco-friendly Cleaning Products, Toiletries, Organic Linen, Bamboo Bedding & our best-selling Eco Duvet and Pillows filled with 100% recycled plastic bottles to our product range. We introduced blankets made from reclaimed mixed fabrics, the equivalent of 53 garments.
We’ve committed to the SME Climate Hub where we’ve dedicated additional resource to reduce & off-setting our emissions, pledging to reach net zero by 2050. We also work with DPD who are in the process of switching all HGVs to renewable biofuel with an 87% reduction in CO2 emissions across 1,600 HGVs.
